kickoff | 9/7/24

Curiosity traveled to Monrovia today for the Into the Deep Season kickoff! We had an amazing time seeing the new game, and we also presented two portfolio workshops to over 150 people. We also made an appearance in the game video (SO EXCITING!!!) and started considering strategy and early design ideas for this years' game in a three hour work session. While we were slightly sad there was no live fish in the game, the climbing during endgame and the clip/human player interaction seem exciting! We can't wait to dive into this season!

BACK TO SCHOOL (AND THIS BLOG) | 8/29/24

Hi Everyone! We know it's been a while (some may say a long while) but we are back and better than ever! We had a lot going on last season, including 12 new team members, but we are back to this blog! We've spent our offseason planning out outreach, including our FLL team, keeping up our connections with STEM professionals, portfolio feedbacks, and some new, extensive outreach as well. We've also started planning out our season and team structure. Keep an eye out for more updates!

KICKOFF | 9/18/21

The season has begun again! We gave an awesome presentation about our portfolio from last year at Kickoff for the 21-22 season (you can see it in the resources tab). We've gained several new members this year and we're super excited to start up again this season! You can expect more updates to the website soon!

Championships | 4/25/21

Yesterday, we competed in the LAFTC Championships! We were so proud of the progress we had made on the robot since the qualifying tournament. Our highest score was 201 points, a team record. We won first place Think, third place Connect, and second place Compass for our amazing mentor, Mr. Witman. Congratulations to all the teams who competed! We had so much fun and it was an incredible day.

Championship UPDATES | 4/19/21

We're working hard preparing for Regionals on 4/24! Other than updating our engineering notebook, portfolio, and judging, we are making some upgrades to the robot. First, we added on "ring wands" to block the rings from getting past our bot in Tele-Op. This doubles as a driver controlled enhancement! Next, we increased the speed of our auto with the goal to be able to pick up a second wobble goal. We hope to get that done before next week's competition!

Qualifying tournament | 4/3/21

We had a fantastic time at our qualifying tournament on 4/3/2021! We are grateful to have placed 1st in robot performance, won the 2nd place Inspire Award, won the 1st place Think Award, and won the 2nd place Control Award. We are also excited that one of our mentors, Mr. Witman, won the 2nd place Compass Award. We are so excited to compete at regionals! Congratulations to all of the teams that competed!
